Reflection on Feedback
Such amazing feedback from my fellow students and lots of detail to work through, but it seems that the male v female, B&W and Female only were considered a little too conventional. This left the male overlay and the bi-fold options which seem to strict more of a cord with my fellow peers, although there were some comments that would need to be addressed
Main points I need to check:
- The foreword still seems to be an issue. I did change the text for each version however this was difficult to read on the video which I didn’t mind as this was for concept only as the pdf files didn’t really portray the effect I wanted. I will look again at the font size and add additional margin space. The font is currently 12 which following feedback was the size to use but I will complete additional research on this.
- Some concern was raised around the image on the transparency competing with the female image below. I will review and look at reducing the overall size to allow the image below to show through more.
- For the bi-fold a comment was made around the pairing of the hands with the scales for Trish – will review and consider other options. Another comment was made around the amount of white space. I didn’t want to have too many images on one page as I had with the original book layout and was commented on following a professional feedback session, but I will review and consider alternatives, such as text or quotes from the women.
- The comment of changing from the double bi-fold to a single on one page only I think would not give the same effect or narrative.
- It was suggested that I introduce a page of thumbnail images detailing the where, who and when. I’ve seen this in a number of photo books, and this could be added. I will add to the next iteration if this version progresses to the final selection.
- I really like the idea of a box and even make the cover the box. For a one -off this might work but those as gifts a simple box would be a more cost effective way forward. Using something from the local area would need further investigation as this could be anything from cray shells, paua shells [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%C4%81ua], seaweed or cages.
- Depending on the outcome of the Open Forum feedback I will still need to add the collaboration work from Jack and the illustrations from Flavia.
