SYP: Presentation to Wairarapa Camera Club

On the 4th October I presented my project and the challenges of platinum and palladium printing.  I following two other club members.  The first presenting her work for her PhD and then a presentation on alternative printing processes which included platinum and palladium.  That presentation was based around the history and the technique rather than the results.

The presentation started with a number of examples from the initial workshop I completed with Stuart Clook in the South Island.  I then went on to highlight some of the challenges I found during the printing process, such as inconsistent coating of the paper, rehydration issues that cause the chemicals to bleed and blotch.  This was following by some examples that just didn’t work well as a platinum and palladium print.  For me there was just not enough contrast in the image to form a good image.  Finally, I presented some images that were printed but didn’t make it into the exhibition and ended on the poster for the exhibition.
